What do you think this song means?

When I was young I knew everything

She a punk who rarely ever took advice

Now I'm guilt stricken,

Sobbing with my head on the floor

Stop a baby's breath and a shoe full of rice

I can't be held responsible

She was touching her face

I won't be held responsible

She fell in love in the first place

For the life of me I cannot remember

What made us think that we were wise and

We'd never compromise

For the life of me I cannot believe

We'd ever die for these sins

We were merely freshmen

My best friend took a week's

Vacation to forget her

His girl took a weeks's worth of

Valium and slept

And now he's guilt stricken sobbing with his

Head on the floor

Thinks about her now and how he never really

Wept he says

I can't be held responsible

She was touching her face

I won't be held responsible

She fell in love in the first place

sounds like abortion %26amp; suicide...sad song.
Reply:Basically, it's a couple of guys who did something awful to a girl back when they were freshmen, maybe rape, maybe murder, maybe both. Now they feel guilty though they didn't get caught. They don't talk about that page in their history. They deny they were responsible though they really were. They try to justify it by saying that they didn't know better, they were freshmen. Even though they may never be prosecuted, their guilt is tearing them apart.
Reply:sounds like they were too young and went too far...got pregnant and either had an abortion or killed herself
Reply:drug addicts who threw their lives away?
Reply:The Verve Pipe's lead singer, Brian Vander Ark, wrote this about his ex-girlfriend getting an abortion. In the second verse, his girlfriend overdoses on Valium to commit suicide, but this part never happened and was made up by Vander Ark.
Reply:Girl in love, boy who won't be responsible for "whatever"....typical?
Reply:Idk mabe someone who is heartbroken for a mistake that he or she made?
Reply:It sounds to me like it's about an abortion.
Reply:I lost the plot after the bit about the rice in the shoe. I hope the music is good.
