The song is "The Freshmen" by the Verve Pipe.
"Stop a baby's breath and a shoe full of rice"
I get the first part, but I don't understand the shoe full of rice. Is there a special meaning behind it, or am I just being idiotic and totally missing the obvious point?
What do you think these lyrics mean?
Well, not seeing the rest of the song make it difficult. Is it about marriage? A baby's breath is the little white flower used with roses in bouquets. So it could refer to the flower as well as actually stopping a baby from breathing. The shoe full of rice, well, people throw rice at weddings. I'd have to see the rest of the song.
Reply:rice is usally a part of a wedding but most of the time its in a mesh bag and you thow it not in a shoe
Reply:Rice is thrown at weddings; this verse refers to aborting the baby and the wedding
Reply:sounds to me like there talking about stopping a wedding but idk
Reply:a baby can be killed by giving it raw paddy rice u know? the song can mean that. or while there is a death, the indian tradition is to pour rice into the mouth, probably it might mean that too
Reply:Having an abortion so they don't have to get married.
