Just a myth, cats will smell the formula on a baby's breath and possibly lick, but not gonna suck the life out of your child.
Why do people think that a cat will take away a baby's breath?
cats go to the smell of milk or formula on a baby and lick their faces to get the taste and their fur blocks them from breathing. I personally have never seen this happen but my cousin said she caught her cat doing this, and the cat was on the babys chest too. that little bit of weight on a baby's chest makes it hard to breathe too.
Reply:cats are attracted to babies and to snuggly blankets, they go into the cradle to be with the baby and have a nice sleeping place........ now the cat lies on the baby's chest, and the chest still isnt strong enough to have a weight on it.... its a old tale that they kill babies... in the meantime they actually mean no harm.... they just want love too
Reply:It's an old wives tale.
I'm not gonna bore you by copying and pasting a wiki on it but it pretty much has to do with the cat smothering the baby and possible allergy issues.
Reply:it is the fur that the breath is taken away. i have had cats all around my kids and it has never happened. it came from the old folks back in the olden days. cats always get a bad rap
Reply:They smell milk/formula on the baby and get in the babies crib. They sleep on the babies chest or cover the babies face.
Cats are evil
Reply:They curl up on the babies face for warmth %26amp; over the warm breath. It might not be true but it sounds resonable.
Reply:i think its cuz kitties like to curl up and keep warm so they get into cribs and such..and people are morons when they made up that story...
Reply:Some people will believe anything.
Reply:The smell of milk attracts them to the baby.
Reply:Because I have seen the movie...Love, honey
Reply:because they have been caught in the cradle many, many times
Reply:cats are known for eating babies souls
