How did the flower Baby's Breath get it's name?

Baby's Breath got it's name from it's smell. It is almost a sweet, putrid smell. Some people love the smell but, as a florist, I can tell you that it get's old quick. It is a very, very distinct smell that is only associated with this flower.

How did the flower Baby's Breath get it's name?
"GYPSOPHILA-Baby's Breath is very fond of limestone soils. Its name is derived from "gupsos," "gypsum" and "phileo," "to love."

It is a small and delicate flower--as delicate as a baby's breath.
Reply:Thats only its common name . Many plants can be called by it
